About Ozona
If waterfront living is what you’re looking for, then Ozona should fit the bill. It lies just west of Palm Harbor, FL in Pinellas County and just a stone’s throw from the Gulf of Mexico. Additionally, there are three other waterways which surround it: St. Joseph Sound, Smith Bayou, and Sutherland Bayou. Part of the charm of this community is found in its “Old Florida” lifestyle, combined with the convenience of a golf cart community. Most homes are within walking distance of the historic downtown area. There you will find Key West-style architecture, quaint shops, and plenty of eateries. One restaurant that many particularly view as special is Molly Goodheads. Here, you can enjoy a really great seafood dinner. Ozona means pure air, but this part of Florida has become famous for the boating, fantastic fishing, and quiet and easy lifestyle sought by those who enjoy the finer things in life. Education is provided by the Pinellas County Schools. Twenty seven district students have been named 2010 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Twenty-eight Pinellas County public schools received the 2009 Five Star School Award from the Florida Department of Education for their outstanding work in family and community projects. In 1992, Ozona was linked to the Pinellas Trail. Residents of Ozona can now walk or ride their bicycles northward to Tarpon Springs or south to St Petersburg. Ozona is also close to Dunedin’s Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Beach. Streets that lie within Ozona reflect very specific Floridian things. For instance, streets in the inner part of the community are named for the fruit grown there such as Banana, Orange and Lemon, while streets on the outer areas are named Harbor, Bay Shore, and Bay.
